Judicial Circuit Assessment Committee Findings
At the November 3rd meeting of the Judicial Circuit Assessment Committee, the committee members voted unanimously to recommend against consolidating any of Florida’s current judicial circuits. The decision came after months of collecting data, reviewing more than 7,000 survey responses, taking testimony at two public hearings, and significant review and deliberation.
At the online meeting, the committee methodically went over the data, comments, and recommendations for each of Florida’s 20 judicial circuits before considering several possible circuit consolidation scenarios. In every case, the evidence did not support a consolidation of circuits. With their consideration guided by Florida Rule of General Practice and Judicial Administration 2.241, the committee noted less disruptive adjustments than circuit consolidation would be able to address any concerns.
